In a full bridge rehabilitation led by the City of Chicago’s Department of Transportation, Metropolitan Steel completed the entire structural steel erection scope for the Webster Avenue Bascule Bridge, which spans the North Branch of the Chicago River between Ashland Avenue and Dominick Street.
This major infrastructure improved safety, durability, and load capacity for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Our team installed new structural steel framing and integral steel elements across the 290-foot span, coordinating closely with engineers and contractors to ensure precision over water and in a tightly controlled urban work zone. As with all of our bridgework, this project combined technical complexity with logistical execution—reaffirming Metropolitan Steel’s reputation as a trusted partner on Chicago’s most visible infrastructure.
If you have work that demands experience, precision, and grit—we’re ready to take it on.
