Iron Workers Employed
Metropolitan Steel was founded in 2003 by Tim Caballero, after more than a decade working in the field as an Ironworker. From the outset, the goal was clear: build a company ironworkers are proud to work for, and clients can confidently rely on.
That mindset is rooted in a generational legacy. Tim’s father, Hector Caballero, spent his career as an Ironworker on some of Chicago’s most recognizable projects, including the Sears Tower. That legacy set the bar—discipline, accountability, jobsite safety, and pride in honest ironwork—and those values still drive Metropolitan Steel today.
More than 20 years into the journey, Metropolitan Steel is firmly established as a trusted steel erection partner throughout the Chicago construction landscape, working alongside general contractors who value preparation, consistency, and clear communication.
We erect steel—but the true strength of our company has always been our people. Treated like family, held to high standards, and led by those who understand the craft from the inside out, it’s what makes Metropolitan Steel built different—and why we’re proud to stand behind our work.
